Founders
of BMFI are a mix of individuals with a common concern for the
development of Mindanao through agrarian reform, sustainable
development and democratic participation in governance.
In 2010,
the BOT has reorganized its composition – elected a new
Chairperson, Vice-Chairperson, Board Secretary, Board
Treasurer while limiting its Board members back to 7 (with the
new ED).
Since BMFI
was registered in May 8, 1996, Ibing was the Chairperson of
the BOT of the Foundation. After 15 years, Ibing has requested
to step down and the BOT elected Kaloy as new Chairperson
while Ibing as the new Vice-Chairperson, replacing the late
Rey Magno Teves. The BOT also elected again Azon and Ayi as
the Board Secretary and Board Treasurer respectively.
The BOT
has also appointed Paul Richard Paraguya to lead the
Foundation as the new Executive Director. |

Staff |

|
BMFI has restructured its operations in 2008. The community
organizers, who are working in the areas of Claveria, Balingasag,
Lagonglong, Sugbongcogon, Kinoguitan and Gingoog City in Misamis
Oriental, were reassigned to the newly established NGO, KPMFI
(Katilingbanong Pamahandi sa Mindanaw Foundation Inc.) which will
continue to pursue what has BMFI started with and among the
communities in Misamis Oriental. But in 2010, BMFI started to
engaged violent-conflict areas, particularly in Aleosan (North
Cotabato) and Lianga-Cagwait (Surigao) and will continue in Sitio
Sio-an, Barangay Malinao (Gingoog City).
Community-based
organizers are already assigned in these areas but BMFI maintaines a
lean and mean staff. BMFI tries to keep its number small for more
groups and organizations to thrive.
