Military and Police
Officers push for peace education, prevention and management of
local conflicts and building peace, amidst the Maguindanao incident
We, the military and police
officers, declare our strong commitment to continue working for
peace in our areas of operations.
We, from the Eastern Mindanao
Command, AFP (EASTMINCOM), and Directorate for Integrated Police
Operations-Eastern Mindanao (DIPO-EM), assert our peacebuilding
efforts and pronounce our plan to continue doing peace education and
training.
We also call in other members
of the AFP and PNP, especially the top leadership, to heed our call
for the institutionalization of peace education in military and
police academic and training institutions, namely:
- Training and Doctrine
Command (TRADOC)
- Philippine Military
Academy (PMA)
- Philippine National Police
Academy (PNPA)
- AFP Command and General
Staff College (AFP CGSC)
- Philippine Public Safety
College (PPSC)
- National Police College
(NPC)
- Naval Education and
Training Command (NETC)
- Division Training Units
(DTU)
- Air Education and Training
Command (AETC)
- Marine Corps Training
Center (MCTC)
We had reached 17 batches of
participants this year coming from the AFP and PNP. We may be few,
but we believe that this new task is important especially in the
present context where parts of Mindanao are still very much in need
of support in the management of conflict and prevention of violence.
We strongly push forward our
efforts and initiatives in our units amidst the challenges we have
encountered as we pursue peace building as a new paradigm in
building relationships and in engaging the community we work with.
In unity with our Divine
Creator, PEACE be with us all!
