The First
Asian-German Dialogue
Posted 13 July 2011
For the first time since the
70's, the Kondrad Andenauer Stiftung and its Domestic Programme
Division based in Berlin, Germany had organized a 3-day Asian-German
Dialogue among 70 of its scholars and fellows in Asia, and key
KAS officers from Germany.
Undertaken last June 23-25,
2011 in Singapore, the dialogue aimed at gathering its partners as
well as consolidate the efforts their scholars and fellows in
various areas of developments and focus.
There were representatives
from seven countries in Southeast Asia, namely, Malaysia, Indonesia,
Singapore, Thailand, Vietnam, Cambodia and Philippines.
KAS is a political foundation
promoting democratic political and social action. Taking the name of
Germany’s first chancellor, KAS provides support to emerging
leaders by giving grants and scholarships to students and
professionals of excellent academic accomplishment as well as of
extraordinary dedication in socio-political work.
Kaloy Manlupig, Chairperson
and pioneer of Balay Mindanaw, was invited to partake in this
occasion. He was one of the fellow scholars of KAS since he was a
graduate of its one-month Federalism study tour in 2000 and was
sponsored by KAS to participate in the 10-week course on Working
With Conflict (WWC) in Birmingham, United Kingdom in
2004 conducted by the Responding to Conflict (RTC).
