About Us
The Kab-ot Gahum: Resource Center for Empowerment & Development (RCED) is an NGO doing peace and development work with partner communities and like-minded NGOs in Mindanao and other parts of the country. It is also engaged in consultancy work delivering professional and technical services using community-based capacity building, training and research technologies developed through and in the course of its long years of experience working with partner communities, NGOs and Local Government Units.

RCED traces its roots to the day Balay Mindanaw Foundation Inc. (BMFI) was established. RCED was then a unit within BMFI that handles training, research and development of information, education and communication materials and HRD work. It used to be called Research, Education, Publication, and Information Team (REPIT).

Through the years REPIT evolved to what it is now called RCED – gaining and drawing experience and developing capability through and from its parent unit – BMFI and partner communities. Towards the end of 1999, the team began a process of re-engineering, finding the appropriate people to provide leadership, formulating the vision-mission statement, goals and objectives, and mobilizing resources. Resource Center for Empowerment and Development spun-off and was finally registered with the Securities and Exchange Commission on April 27, 2000.

Vision / Mission

RCED shares Balay Mindanaw’s vision:

Equality, Development & Peace … for Mindanaw, for the Philippines and for the World
(Kaangayan, Kalambuan, Kalinaw … sa Mindanaw, sa Pilipinas, sa Kalibutan)

RCED’s and BMFI’s barangay-based development work and continued leadership in the various Mindanao-wide coalitions and campaigns are viewed as rich sources of learnings, insights and even new appropriate technologies. These will be shared through the various publications, conferences and training seminars that RCED will conduct for this purpose.

Research work will also be undertaken to enrich the content and ensure the relevance of BMFI’s area-based operations and RCED’s information, education program.
